Councillor Nigel Balding was born in 1962 and grew up in Devon. He is an engineering graduate of the University of Durham and has lived in Birchwood since 1991. A member of the Conservative Party since 2009, Nigel was elected to Warrington Borough Council for the first time in May 2021, having previously served as a Birchwood Town Councillor for four years and as Deputy Chair Political for Warrington North Conservative Association. As well as politics, Nigel’s interests include outdoor activities, the environment and conservation. He has previously been involved with volunteering with the Woodland Trust and the police.
